NanoPack took its message and ambitions to several international events during the Spring and early Summer. Consortium partner AIPIA, the Active & Intelligent Packaging Industry Association gave several presentations featuring the NanoPack project in both Europe and Asia:

INTERPACK , Germany, May 2017

The biggest packaging show on the planet features over one hundred presentations and press conferences on a wide range of topics. AIPIA was asked by show organizers Messe Dusseldorf to tell a group of Japanese food packaging experts about the latest innovations in food waste reduction technologies and, of course, spoke about the benefits nano-based materials in general and the NanoPack developments, in particular, will offer.

FOOD SAFETY CONFERENCE, UK, June 2017

A very elite group of food experts and food safety and inspection specialists gathered in Birmingham to hear from a range of speakers about the best ways to avoid contamination and improved shelf life for proteins and produce. AIPIA was on hand to explain the aims and objectives of the NanoPack project and how packaging can play a central role in both food safety and security. Attendees included: Chaucer Foods, Dawn Meats, Greencore, Quorn Foods and Tate & Lyle Sugars, as well as major retailers Wm Morrisons and Selfridges.

FOOD SAFETY AUTHORITY of IRELAND, Irish Republic, June 2017

More than 80 food experts and representatives of Irish Government food agencies gathered in Dublin to hear about food safety issues. The Irish food and drink sector is enormously important, being the largest export earner for the country. Keeping abreast of the latest technologies is vital to maintain the healthy growth in this sector. Naturally they want to understand the benefits that the development of NanoPack’s materials technology will be able to offer. In particular the focus on naturally derived ingredients struck a chord in this highly organic market.

PROPAK CHINA, China, July 2017

China is developing its food and drink industry into a formidable force in Asia and beyond. The Chinese Government is also developing some of the strictest regulations on food safety. This is in response to a growing export market and as internal supply chains become more complex as more people live in large urban concentrations and require packaged foods – often grown or produced considerable distances from the cities. And the scale of this development is huge – but then it has to be. Have you heard of Wuxi? It’s a city about 5 hours by road from Shanghai. It has 6 million inhabitants and is just one of probably 10 cities of similar size within a half a day’s drive. So the 200+ audience attending the AIPIA summit during the show were VERY interested in the possibilities NanoPack has to offer.
